We are proud to announce our 3nd mangrove restoration project in Indonesia. This is the 2nd project on mainland Lombok, in Paremas. The area is polluted with garbage from local households, which impedes mangrove seedlings to settle. Illegal logging and shrimp farming created open areas and polluted the waters in the forest. Together with our partners Indonesia Biru (=blue) Foundation and Bale Mangrove Foudation we are setting up a comprehensive waste management system, organize cleanups and awareness events and will reforest parts of the forest. We plan to restore the local ecotourism again and employ shark fishers in order to provide an alternative livelihood. Due to the expected, yet controlled ecotourism, we expect the project to be self-sustaining within 12 months. Just like we did in Cemare.
