Did you know that our clothing, cosmetics but even shampoo and toothpaste and many other products often contain microplastics? These small plastics are not filtered out well in our sewage systems so they end up in the ocean.
Microplastics have been found in coral polyps and can kill the tiny animals. Plankton and small fish also mistake the microplastics for food and consume it. And guess who eats the plankton? Yes, the fish we eat (or hopefully reading the above you don’t anymore). So we pollute the marine life and then we pollute ourselves.
You can make a choice in what you buy. For the abovementioned products clothing, cosmetics shampoo and toothpaste there are many alternatives on the market and easy to find on the internet. And don’t litter (obviously!) and put your waste consequently in recycling bins.
