Education is key in conservation. With 5 partners in Kenya and the Indonesia Biru Foundation in Lombok (Indonesia) we have set up awareness and education programs to protect elasmobranchs (sharks, rays and skates). Children, fishermen, government officials and the general public are addressed along the Kenyan coast and East Lombok. Awareness kits are used to highlight the importance of these magnificent species, their crucial role in the ecosystem, threats to their existence, and the solutions to protect them. Through our alternative livelihood program we help elasmobranch fishers to change their profession.
