Accomplishments in Tanzania

55 Buoys 

We deployed 55 marker (to demarcate protected areas) and mooring buoys in the ocean at Zanzibar, Mnemba, Maziwe and Mafia Island. 

8 Artificial reefs

We deployed 8 artificial reefs on Zanzibar. We made different structures with Reef Balls and limestone. On all structures we planted juvenile corals from the farm. Maintenance tasks are performed 3 times per year e.g. replacing died juvenile corals, cleaning from certain kinds of algae and sponges, removing coral predators like Drupella and Crown of Thorns. 

50.000 juvenile corals 

We farmed and out-planted more than 50.000 juvenile corals on Zanzibar. The farm can produce approximately 8-10.000 juvenile corals per year.
